This division is held within the Open Comp providing confident female surfers a chance to surf quality banks generally along 13th Beach without the crowds and priority of a club rash vest. The division is made up of a supportive group of women and some ripping juniors going head to head in a healthy competitive environment. This division is judged and awards prizes for placings.
WOMENS COMP DAY - Girls 16/18 & Womens
New to the 20/21 season 13th Beach Boardriders club will be offering a separate comp just for Women and Girls catering for the intermediate and beginner surfer. I
The locations being 13th beach at breaks like Signies, Clubbies, Boings, or along the stretch of beach between Raffs and Ocean Grove Reef. The main idea behind the Women’s comp is to provide a friendly, social event for like-minded Women where you can meet fellow surf loving individuals from the local area.
We hope to provide a club where we can support each other in the comp environment and fostering new friendships to meet up for social surfs outside of comp days. These divisions where created by a group of women within the club, mostly those with Groms already competing, who wanted to surf as part of the club however were not as confident to surf peaks like Beacon.
Catering to those women already surfing who want to be part of the club offering a supportive environment to push themselves by surfing a judged heat or join in for the social free surf. Development and social surf days are a strong focus of the Women’s divisions.
Divisions making up the Women’s Comp Day include.

Judged division for boards of the 7ft/8ft range like Mini Mals, single fins and fun boards
Social Free Surf
Not Judged, social free surf to connect with like minded females and work on your skills

Some notes on the new Women’s Comp;
Those surfing in the OPEN Women’s division can not surf in the Freestyle division however are welcome in the Mid-length, Free surf divisions, if the events are run on separate days. If the Open comp and Women’s comp are being held on the same day we may have a clash with heat times. This goes for the Under 16 and Under 18 girls divisions too, who want to surf the Open Division. You may need to choose between the two if the Open and Women’s comp are on the same day.
The Freestyle, Mid-Length, Free Surf Expression Session are open to everyone and you can surf in one, two or all three divisions if you like
Remember boards under 9ft please for the Mid-Length division
We will run the Under 16 and under 18 girls divisions
Heats will be 20 – 25 minutes – determined on the day
We may combine the Freestyle A and B if numbers are limited
For the freestyle and mid-length divisions we hope to run a few heats, with the highest scoring waves through to a Final, so you get at least two heats in the water
Even though this is a competition, its about having fun, supporting each other, so please be respectful and support your fellow surfing ladies
We will hold a presentation on the beach after the event to announce the winners of each division. Previous seasons have seen the Comp Presentations being held at the Collendia Pub however due to Covid restrictions, we will run with a beach preso for now.
